Hey NAF Educators! We have two upcoming Research + Tech talks centered on work-based learning taking place next week. See below for the details and RSVP links.
Talk 1: “Equitable Paths to Success - How Quality Work-Based Learning Contributes” - A Fireside chat with Martha Ross (Brookings Metro)
When: Tuesday, May 24th, 1:00pm ET.
Description: Join Nick Minar as he sits down with Martha Ross, Senior Fellow at Brookings Metro. Martha researches and writes about workers and the labor market, with a focus on creating a healthy economy that offers opportunity for all. We will be discussing quality work-based learning (WBL) experiences during our chat and how these experiences can provide an equitable pathway to high-skilled, high-wage careers. Nick and Martha will also dig deep into the benefits students receive from quality WBL experiences.

Talk 2: “Improving Career Academy Work-Based Learning Programs with Better Data” - A Fireside chat with Katherine Shields and Clare Waterman (Education Development Center)
When: Wednesday, May 25th, 3:30pm ET
Description: Work-based learning (WBL) is a critical component of a career academy student experience, but documenting it can be a challenge. Many schools struggle with capturing WBL data in support of decision-making to improve access and success for students. Join Nick Minar and Drs. Katherine Shields and Clare Waterman - researchers at Education Development Center (EDC) – as they engage in a fireside chat to discuss highlights and best practices from a recently published Work-based Learning Data Collection Toolkit. We will discuss processes for improving WBL data collection systems, tips for collecting more complete and reliable data, and guidance on using the data for program improvement.
