What does "Career Connected Program of Study" mean?
NAF’s Career-Connected Program of Study is aligned with the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, also commonly referred to Perkins V definition as follows:
A NAF Academy Career-Connected Program of Study (CCPOS) must minimally meet the following standards:
It fully incorporates all State and national academic standards
Addresses both academic and technical knowledge and skills, including employability skills. For NAF academies, the CCPOS includes a curriculum that:
Is aligned with current industry standards and economic trends.
Progresses in specificity (beginning with all aspects of an industry or career cluster and leading to more occupation-specific instruction).
For NAF academies, this expectation includes two (2) annual courses or four (4) semester courses in the chosen pathway.
*Authentic project-based learning empowers learners to identify passion projects and inspires them to imagine innovative solutions to real-world issues in partnership with career experts.
