Year of Planning Program

Academy Quality

How will the ADT establish an Academy Quality process that ensures NAF standards are met and supports the launch of a high-quality program?

Strategic Actions:

  • 1. Conduct YOP kick-off meeting with the core ADT members and complete YOP Snapshot in the Academy Support Hub (ASH).

  • 2. Use the snapshot results to prioritize standards for development, establish goals, and define action steps for the Action Plan.

  • 3. Designate a person or sub-committee to monitor goals and document academy design plan progress.

  • 4. Ensure the ADT creates NAF accounts to access tools and resources.

  • 5. Establish common planning time for the ADT (more than three members) to manage all aspects of the academy program.

  • 6. Document how academy leaders will promote practices, events, and achievements at local, state, and national levels to enhance college and career readiness.

  • 7. Specify data sources for monitoring academy and learner achievement and establish improvement strategies, such as a learner intervention plan.

  • 8. Define protocols for sharing academy data with school administration and stakeholders.

  • 9. Participate in NAF-sponsored (e.g., NAF Next) or other Career Technical Education (CTE) professional learning sessions to enhance capacity and improve academy quality.

Use the guiding questions to structure meeting agendas and facilitate a discussion aimed at developing the academy framework.

Guiding Questions:

  • 1. What team members are essential to completing the YOP Snapshot, a self-assessment tool, to analyze current academy practices?

  • 2. Will the ADT use NAF’s online Action Plan tool to facilitate collaboration and coordination with NAF?

  • 3. Who will monitor goals and progress to update the Action Plan?

  • 4. What steps should be taken to ensure the ADT successfully creates NAF accounts and accesses tools and resources?

  • 5. How often will the ADT meet for formal collaboration (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly)?

  • 6. Are there specific events or milestones where leaders can showcase achievements on social media or other platforms to increase support and advocacy for academy programs?

  • 7. What type of data will be used to monitor academy and learner achievement, and how will the ADT use the data to improve performance?

  • 8. What formats, key data points, and timelines will the ADT use to share data and highlight the academy's impact?

  • 9. How can the academy leverage professional learning events, including micro-credentials, to enhance academy quality?
